Perlage Winery – Prosecco Superiore DOCG & DOC

Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG

Perlage Winery based in Farra di Soligo is recognized worldwide as the first 100% organic estate in the Prosecco Superiore’s historic, vibrant wine-growing landscape.

The story of Perlage begins in 1985, when the 7 Nardi brothers, encouraged by their father Tiziano and mother Afra, to embark on a journey in converting to organic agriculture in the heart of the Prosecco Superiore. All the grapes are grown solely with the use of organic and biodynamic methods with an emphasis around sustainability at every level within the vineyard and winery.

The Perlage vineyards are situated in the hilly region of the Treviso province, between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, this area was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.

Altitude 820 feet (DOCG), 164 feet - 820 feet (DOC)

The Perlage vines range from 15 - 20 years old and are grown on some of the steepest hillsides in Italy. The soils of the DOCG and DOC areas are why these grapes thrive and produce exceptional sparkling wines. Vineyards in the DOCG are rooted in soils of ancient marine deposits, calcareous soils formed from crushed decayed shells and glacial-based morainic soil. Grapes growing from vines within the DOC are grounded in alluvial soil made up of loose clay, silt, sand and gravel deposited by running water.

The continental weather of this region is generally warm to moderate. The Dolomite hills and Adriatic Sea influence the climate and provide optimal growing conditions for the signature Glera grape.
